Hollywood Endorses Ventura

“We need people like Rachel Ventura who have already fought for changes at the local level to step up and bring their leadership skills to Washington D.C., where the fossil fuel industry has bought enough members of congress to continue writing legislation,” said Shannon. “She is going to be a fighter that this generation and the next can believe in.”

HOLLYWOOD, CA – Hollywood actors, Mike Shannon and Paul Dillon endorsed Rachel Ventura for U.S. Congress. In recent years, Hollywood actors and actresses have spoken out about climate change. Shannon and Dillon decided to support Ventura’s bold challenge to a sitting congressman because they feel that the climate crisis needs stronger voices in Washington.

Michael Shannon played a supporting role in Salt and Fire, a movie about climate change. He used media interviews associated with the film to highlight the climate crisis. In a 2017 interview with ET, Shannon bashed Trumps appointment to the EPA, Scott Pruit, “I do believe we’re destroying the world. Particularly right now; we just named a man who doesn’t believe in climate change as the leader of the Environmental Protection Agency.” Shannon said that Ventura would bring a much-needed change.

Dillon who has known Rachel most of her life added, “Rachel persuades and inspires those who lend her an ear in the unselfconscious way of true concern for others that cannot be posed, or put on like a mask. Virtue is in her DNA.” Dillon who currently lives in the 11th district continued, “I know I want her representing us – our district, our state and our county. Those of us living in this great nation are greatly troubled by the state of chaos, dysfunction and uncertainty we are living through. If voters give her a chance, Rachel will work tirelessly to fix things as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives."

Michael Shannon was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky. He began his professional stage career in Chicago. His first acting roles were at the Illinois Theatre Center and with companies like Steppenwolf. He is best known for playing supporting roles and appeared in Man of Steel, Pearl Harbor, 8 Mile, Vanilla Sky, Bad Boys II, and High Crimes.

Paul Dillon was born in Joliet and began his career in Chicago in 1994. He was the lead in HellCab and has had supporting roles in Blink and Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. He has also appeared on many hit TV series including NYPD Blue, CSI: Miami, The Pretender, and The Guardian. Dillon is the founder and artistic director of the Bang Bang Spontaneous Theatre Group.
